Go International: Entering China #3 – IP and Data Protection
The Go International webinar series aims to help ICT companies learn about navigating into different oversea markets. In the third session of Entering China series held on 23 July 2020, SGTech invited Bird & Bird and the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City to present on the policies, regulations and incentives surrounding Intellectual Property (IP) protection in China.
Ms Emma Ren, Associate at Bird & Bird, summarised the regulations and protections ICT companies could utilise in China to defend their IP.
Ms Tiantian Ke, Associate at Bird & Bird, also gave an overview of the Data Protection laws in China and provided a checklist for businesses to refer to guide their Data Protection compliance.
Mr Nee Pai Chee, Vice President of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (Singapore Branch Office), provided an insightful presentation on the significance of the Guangdong-HK-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA). He highlighted the role that China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City and the China-Singapore International Intellectual Property Innovation Service Centre played in terms of IP protection and summarised vital policies that would benefit Singapore companies.
